Railway ALP Recruitment

RRB ALP 2020 is a national level test organized by the Railway Recruitment Board. It is held to recruit meritorious candidates for the posts of Assistant Loco Pilot and Grade- 3 Technician.

RRB ALP Exam – The RRB conducts the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) exam to recruit candidates into the Indian Railways. Candidates can check the relevant information on other RRB exams conducted by the railway board.

Railway recruitment board (RRB) conducts RRB ALP and Technician Exam to recruit Assistant Loco Pilot and Technician for different railway zones across the country. This is a national level exam, however, RRB releases vacancy for different zones separately. The exam is being conducted in multiple phases, First Stage CBT, Second Stage CBT, Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) and Document Verification.

RRB ALP Eligibility Criteria

RRB has specified particular age and educational criteria for RRB ALP and Technician, check the table given below:

Educational Qualification Assistant Loco Pilot: Matriculation / SSLC Plus ITI/ Course Completed Act Apprentices or Diploma/ Degree in Engineering

Technicians: Matriculation/ SSLC Plus ITI / Course Completed Act Apprentices or 10 + 2 with Physics and Maths or Diploma in Engineering (As Applicable).

RRB ALP Selection Process

RRB ALP & Technician exam is conducted in four sages, First Stage CBT, Second Stage CBT, Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) and Document Verification. Find the important facts about the stages below:

RRB ALP First Stage CBT

  • This computer-based test is the first stage of RRB ALP & Technician exam, this test is qualifying in nature
  • The paper contains 75 objective type questions (MCQs) and total time given to complete the paper is 60 minutes
  • Each question carries 1 mark, hence, total mark of the paper is 75
  • There is negative marking for incorrect answers, ⅓ mark will be deducted for one wrong answer

RRB ALP Second Stage CBT

  • Those who secure cut off marks in first stage CBT, get a call for second stage CBT
  • This is the second stage of the exam, which has two parts – part A and Part B
  • Part A will have 100 questions and total time is 90 minutes
  • Part B will have 75 questions and the duration of the paper is 60 minutes
  • There is negative marking for incorrect answers, ⅓ mark will be deducted for one wrong answer

RRB ALP CBAT

  • This stage is only for those candidates who have applied for assistant loco pilot posts
  • Question papers are made available in both English and Hindi
  • There are five test batters, candidates need to score certain marks in each test battery to qualify the exam

RRB ALP Document verification

  • Candidates who clear all the stages, are called for document verification by the respective RRBs
  • Candidates need to carry the original documents asked by RRBs on the day of document verification
  • If any candidate fails to submit original documents or if any document is found fake, the candidature of that candidate will be canceled

RRB ALP Result

The final RRB ALP result will be published after document verification on the zonal RRBs websites. PDF containing names of the successful candidates will be published. The final merit list will be prepared after combining marks of stage two and Computer-Based Aptitude Test. In case of technicians, scores obtained in the second stage CBT will be taken into consideration.
